the same old idea that when someone becomes unemployed or a hardship befalls them that it’s there own fault. the i can do it why can’t you is one of those right of centre views that is aimed at making making things like unemployment insurance (welfare) and other social programs as supporting people who have a moral failing. there are so many things that can happen to you in your life that you are not capable of anticipating or have any ability to change to say that it’s all your own decisions is so frustrating to hear. i don’t know what this person got a degree in but obviously it wasn’t in anything that would give them the slightest inkling into what all happened back in 2008. what is still happening in the United States and around the world.
