Wow.
You know, just because you got lucky and found a job that lets you get through college, doesn’t mean you get to demean those who weren’t as lucky.
What’s that shit about working= being able to live comforably? Bitch please, where the fuck do you live?
I’m taking this entire situation outside the US, because the entire World is going through this entire shit.
I’m 24. I have a college degree. I speak 3 languages, two of them fluently. I have really good computer skills. I’m a certified tech. I’m a former med student. That means I’m not that dumb, right? Well guess what. I don’t have a job. I never did. No one ever hired me I was either too unexperienced, too qualified, or whatever. Both my parents work their ass off so we can cover our basic needs. We don’t have any kind of luxury. I haven’t been on a vacation since 2007, I can’t afford it. I haven’t been to the movies since January because I can’t afford it. I haven’t bough any new clothes because I can’t afford them. I live in a country were a basic pair of jeans is AT LEAST $150. A pair of Converse is $127. I have no ipad, no credit card, no car, I could go on forever. I’m the 99%.
Fuck you for thinking you’re better than those who struggle.
I didn’t choose this.
prices all over the world for the expensive shit are basically the same. it’s not just America. those $150 jeans are about that much in other countries. no one ever said you needed expensive jeans though, outlet places that sell brand new clothing are a great option for you. if you care that your clothes are out-of-season, then that’s your fault.
but really though, im pretty sure the person that wrote this didn’t mean they’re poppin’ bottles of Cristal every night and swimming in their diamonds before they go to bed. by living “comfortably,” i’m sure they mean comfortable enough to meet their basic needs for themselves, without expecting luxuries and vacations and expensive shoes or jeans.
if you’ve never had a job before, then you can probably imagine why you’ve never been hired anywhere by now at the age of 24. jobs like to look at a resume and see that an employee has an amazing work ethic. even if they were flipping burgers at some fast food place: do their previous managers talk highly of them? did they come in to work on time? did they get promoted? etc. I want to hire someone reliable, not someone with an empty resume, aside from the “experiences” from college. i dont think they just got “lucky.” clearly, in this situation a paycheck doesn’t cover the college expenses, but because of hard work in high school they have a nice scholarship, and then they continued to meet the academic requirements to keep that scholarship. scholarship covers school, paycheck covers bills and needs. theres a balance.
i just don’t think the person that wrote this was poking at you, reader.
they were just pointing out that we all make our own choices. perhaps, some choices lead to nicer outcomes.
but of course, this is just one case.
we all know that some people are genuinely being put down by our government, which we all know, for damn sure, is not the best.
i can stand behind the true people that are part of the 99%. however, reading your little whiny and complain-y note about not having a new pair of converse or an iPad is just sad. go find a minimum wage job to help your struggling family out until your medical experiences leads you to a desirable job in your field. but don’t sit around waiting for the world to come to you.
